BODYWORKS A POWERFUL ALLY – Movement Therapists Samantha & Rob Lyden
There's no denying the power of bodywork. Regardless of the adjectives we assign to it (pampering, rejuvenating, therapeutic) or the reasons we seek it out (a luxurious treat, stress relief, pain management), bodywork therapy can be a powerful ally in your healthcare regimen. Clients often report a sense of perspective and clarity after receiving treatment. The emotional balance our therapies provides can often be just as vital and valuable as the more tangible physical benefits.

Scar’s and adhesions grow in the body as a normal response to injury. This injury may be caused by repetitive strain, fracture, blunt force impact, or surgery. Adhered tissues are released and then realigned from their starting point, which is the visible scar, to their endpoint — where the line of frozen fascia stops. No matter how new or old your scar.

Our therapist uses Marjorie Brook STRAIT™ Method, integrated with other therapies where appropriate. This has been effective in minimizing scar tissue development and subsequent physiological restrictions.

Sympathetic Nervous System - When the body experiences trauma, the sympathetic nervous system becomes upregulated, and stress is produced within the body, increasing vagal tone, which then leads to muscle hypertonicity.

Strained; Pulled Fascia - When our body creates scars as a result of physical trauma, such as an accident or surgery, our body’s fascia, which connects to all muscles and organs of the body, can become strained and pulled. One small strain can cause significant muscle imbalances throughout the body, producing pain and muscle weakness often far removed from scar or trauma site.

Adhesions - In some instances, physical trauma, such as surgery, or illness, can cause adhesions, or internal scarring, inside the muscles and body. Adhesions reduce muscle performance (shutting down) and produce pain.

A combined, non-invasive technique the LFM approach combines the benefits of fluid techniques, using lymphatic-drainage therapy, with those of myofascial release.

Uses gentle pressure and stretching to release the covering, or ‘fascia’, of the muscles. It helps relieve pain and motion restriction and is ideal for muscles that feel tight and won’t release.

The lymph system is an open system throughout the whole body. It is only interrupted by nodes that control the flow of lymph fluid and acts as a filter. Nodes also contain immune cells that destroy waste and bacteria. Impaired circulation leads to a build-up of toxins which in turn can lead to many re-occurring illnesses and feelings of sluggishness due to a stressed immune system. Lymphatic drainage is a gentle, rhythmic massage, which stimulates the lymph nodes to open and drain.

LFM is excellent for treating chronic pain conditions because chronic pain is often an indication of lymph congestion and restriction of the fascia on some level. Because of its effectiveness in reducing scarring and inflammation, this approach also has positive implications for difficult conditions, including long-term fibrosis and fibromyalgia.

Where appropriate Kinesio Taping® & compression garments may be needed to aid in continual Lymph drainage - sold separately

ONLINE CLINIC (CRP – Check-in, Relax, Pause)
A one-on-one session with our Therapist Sam Lyden, helping to relieve stress, tension, toxin build-up in and around your body. You can check in from anywhere in the world via Zoom video conference.

Spend some one-on-one time with your therapist Sam. During your time together she will be checking in on how you are feeling physically, mentally, and emotionally in order to ascertain what therapy is going to be best for you during your online cyber session.

Therapy could include: Grounding, Self-Lymph Drainage, Neurogenic Tremoring (NT)

Relieves stress and tension, encourages relaxation and stimulation of the circulatory and nervous systems. It activates the body's self-healing progress. Helps to stimulate lymph removal from common areas of swelling (Feet, Legs, Arms)

Reflexology is based on the principle that the whole body is ‘mapped’ onto the foot. By applying gentle but firm pressure to specific areas of the feet you can stimulate or alleviate any pain to the different organs or systems of the body.

During pregnancy, a reflexology session can assist with things like Headaches, Lower Back Pain and backache, Lack of sleep, Fatigue and energy levels, Constipation and digestive issues, Fluid retention – swollen feet and ankles

Manipulation and adjusting of fascia (light and deep) caught throughout the body from impact, serious injury, surgery. It helps relieve pain and motion restriction and is ideal for muscles that feel tight and won’t release

Manual therapy for improved mobility & pain relief is a form of manual therapy that uses stainless steel tools to perform muscle mobilizations.

How Does it Work?
You can think of this therapy as a deeper more intense version of manual therapy. The therapists use specially designed tools in two ways. First - locate muscle knots or restrictions. They do this by running the tools over your skin to feel for fibrous or scar tissue that may be causing you pain or restricting your movement. Second - they use the tools to break up that tissue to restore mobility and function.

Stress Reduction - Encourage Relaxation - Improve Circulation - Restore Sleep Patterns - Improve Immune System - Boost Energy Levels - Calm Digestive Problems - Ease Muscular - Tension Back/Shoulder/Neck Pain - Repetitive Stress Injuries - Stimulate Nerve Function - Improved Flexibility -Reduce Migraines - Enhance Medical Care - Lower Cholesterol - Allergies - Hormonal Imbalance - Arthritis - High Blood Pressure – Anxiety - Heart Disease – Diabetes

COVID - Both of our therapists are fully vaccinated (2021) - Contact tracing measures in place

In consideration of other clients who may require an appointment, Total Therapy Solutions requests that if you can't make your appointment and wish to cancel or reschedule that you do so within 12 hours of the appointment. Failure to give no notice will incur a full charge of the session booked as a cancellation fee.

As the clinic works to scheduled time slots, lateness to an appointment will shorten your session time.
